Over three centuries ago a man named George Thorpe used a still on the banks of the James River in Virginia and produced corn liquor. This was the first American moonshine. With the help of the Indians (Native Americans), Thorpe used Indian corn and began to distill a fermented mash of corn, beginning the development of moonshine in the United States.
Today, Virginia Lightning is the only legal moonshine available in the United States. That's right, I said legal moonshine. It is made in Culpepper, VA at Belmont Farms of Virginia, Inc. It is legal moonshine because it is just 100 Proof, which is the highest allowed to be made in the United States.
Virginia Lightning is produced in a genuine solid copper pot still at Belmont Farms. They grow the corn, harvest it, store it, and grind it in preparation. Then the corn is cooked and then put in the still to create Virginia Lightning.
Belmont Farms is a family owned and operated farm distillery. For more information on Virginia Lightning, along with how to purchase it, click the link below.
